A pianoforte to be restored

What is a pianoforte?

The pianoforte is a musical instrument chordophonefrom the string family but also equipped with a keyboard.

Its uniqueness?

It is an intermediate instrument which is therefore between the clavichord and the piano. Unlike the harpsichord whose strings are plucked, the pianoforte strings are struck by hammers.

Gisèle Forrichon tells us about the one she has in her shop.

A piano that we owe to the Italian organbuilder Bartolomeo Cristofori

Indeed, it is to this Florentine craftsman of the 1st half of the 18th century that we owe the creation of the pianoforte. He sought to endow the harpsichord with more nuanced expressive possibilities, by allowing the instrumentalist to vary the intensity of the sounds according to the force exerted on the keys.

What the clavichord already allowed, but it emitted a sound too weak compared to the harpsichord.
