A Périgourdin accused of having strangled his wife is sentenced to prison

A 30-year-old from Bugue in the Dordogne was sentenced to three years in prison, one of which was suspended on Thursday January 13 at the Bergerac criminal court. The man was tried for violence against his partner on the night of December 5 to 6, and in particular for having strangled him in front of their children. This mom had five days of ITT.

Weapons found in the children’s room

The 34-year-old man is known to justice, he has already had several convictions for theft, for violence and for traffic offences. At their home, weapons and ammunition were found, some were in the children’s room. During the hearing, the defendant, who has been in pre-trial detention since the events, explained himself at length. He recounts being a child of the war in the former Yugoslavia and having been traumatized in particular by an alcoholic father. This justifies according to him that he cannot bear that his wife drinks alcohol.

The court followed the prosecution’s requisitions

His lawyer asked for his release, considering that the traces of beatings do not correspond, according to him, to the findings of the doctor from the Forensic Medicine Unit who examined the victim. The prosecution requested three years in prison, one year suspended. The court followed the requisitions of the prosecution and asked the defendant to pay 1,000 euros for moral damage to his wife. The man went back to jail after the hearing.
