A pedestrian struck in Montreal North

A pedestrian in his sixties was seriously injured Tuesday evening after being hit by a motorist in the Montreal-North borough. An investigation has been opened.


It was around 6:20 p.m. that the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) claimed to have been called to the scene of the collision, on Henri-Bourassa Boulevard, not far from Désy Avenue.

Upon arrival, the first patrol officers located the pedestrian, a 68-year-old man. He was then seriously injured “in the head,” said agent Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM. The driver, a 59-year-old man, did not suffer any injuries.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. His state of health was still unknown at the end of the evening.

“According to initial information obtained from witnesses, the pedestrian was struck while crossing the roadway at a location other than the pedestrian crossing,” M also said.me Dubuc, without giving further details.

A vast security perimeter was erected in the evening, forcing the closure of a section of Henri-Bourassa Boulevard in the east direction.

Several investigators will comb the scene, in addition to questioning potential witnesses, and even viewing video tapes from surveillance cameras, in order to retrace the sequence of events.
