A Laval resident was struck Thursday by a motorist in the parking lot of a small shopping center located in the Chomedey district of Laval. He succumbed to his injuries.
The accident occurred at the end of the day Thursday, around 5 p.m., in the parking lot of several businesses, including a grocery store and a pharmacy, located on Samson Boulevard in Laval.
A 68-year-old man in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) hit a pedestrian while trying to park, said Erika Landris, spokesperson for the Laval police department.
The victim, a 76-year-old man, was taken to hospital in critical condition. His death was pronounced there.
Both men are from Laval.
An investigation was opened, but according to the first observations, “there does not seem to be a criminal element”, specifies Mme Landris. The driver was met by the police and will also be questioned by the investigators, she adds.
