A pedestrian hit by a car in Varennes

A pedestrian in her twenties was hit by a vehicle on Saturday evening when she was crossing a street in Varennes, Montérégie.

The event occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Route 132, near the intersection with Boulevard de la Marine, said Captain Michel Lefebvre of the Richelieu-Saint-Laurent Intermunicipal Police Board.

The pedestrian allegedly tried to run across the lane when the traffic light turned green and a driver in his 40s wanted to cross. He then kicked her in the side trying to avoid her.

The victim was taken to a hospital, but his state of health was still unknown in the middle of the evening.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or with impaired abilities is not involved in this accident, said the captain.
