A peak of traffic jams of nearly 600 km was recorded around noon, Saturday August 27, a day classified as red in the direction of returns at the national level, according to Bison Futé, who notes however that the level reached is lower than forecast. “This weekend will mark the end of school holidays” and “Most of the road flows concern returns from coastal regions to major cities”the public traffic information service had reported on Friday.
“During the entire period, in the direction of returns, circulation will be difficult at the national level”, warned Bison Futé, who noted a traffic jam peak of 588 km on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. The main difficulties were expected from 10 a.m. on Saturday and should however continue until the beginning of the evening, mainly on the A7 and A8 motorways in the Rhône valley, on the Mediterranean arc and on the A10, from Bordeaux to Paris.
Sunday, also in the direction of returns, the traffic forecasts are announced “very difficult” in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Monday, day classified red in Ile-de-France and in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, “the combination of returning from vacation and work-home journeys will make traffic difficult”. A peak of more than 1,000 km of traffic jams was recorded during the second crossover weekend of the summer, on August 6.
