Turnout stood at 44.63% as of 5:30 p.m. Monday, still a far cry from the final percentage of the 2018 general election.

When the polls closed in 2018, 66.45% of Quebec voters had exercised their right to vote. It was the lowest percentage since the election of the Liberal government of Jean Charest in 2008.

The record turnout belongs to the Parti Québécois election in 1976, when 85.27% of voters went to the polls.

For the past 30 years, the participation rate has been declining:

  • 2014: 71.44%
  • 2012: 74.60%
  • 2008: 57.43%
  • 2007: 71.23%
  • 2003: 70.42%
  • 1998: 78.32%
  • 1994: 81.58%

Record advance voting

Voters have never been so numerous to take advantage of their right to vote in advance with a record rate of 24.44%, a first since its establishment in 1998.

This way of proceeding is becoming more and more popular among voters, according to the statistics of the last polls.
