With crowded departments and stretchers piling up in the hallways, the emergency room in Fréjus, in the Var, has to deal with a record influx of patients. There are not enough places and not enough doctors, so an initiative has been taken: a nursing home has been set up within the establishment itself in order to unclog emergencies.

Patients waiting in the corridors and the smallest place is occupied by a stretcher. In summer, the emergency room of the Fréjus hospital (var) are saturated. Designed for accommodate 30 000 patients, emergencies record 50,000 passages per year. It is therefore a permanent battle to find beds for the sick. So, a medical guard house was set up, within the hospital itself. Created in 2013 by Dr Alain Revillonshe has for the purpose of unclogging emergencies.

In the summer, two doctors voluntary liberals are on call every day. The medical center takes over from the practices in town on weekday evenings, from 8 a.m. to midnight, on weekends and on public holidays. The waiting room is always full, with the less serious cases. The Doctor’s Project is an on-call medical home open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to midnight. In Fréjus, she is become an essential complement to emergencies.
