A North American tour for Jon Batiste

(Los Angeles) Jon Batiste, Grammy and Oscar winner and former conductor at Late Show with Stephen Colbertwill begin his very first North American tour at the top of the bill.

His most recent album, World Music Radio, a rich blend of R&B, hip-hop, swing, jazz and pop, was released earlier this summer. His North American tour was announced Monday following the unveiling of the Grammy finalists. Batiste is in the running for six trophies, including in the coveted “album,” “song” and “record of the year” categories.

THE Uneasy Tour: Purifying the Airwaves for the People will take flight on February 16 in Portland, Oregon. In Canada, Batiste will be in Toronto on March 12, at Massey Hall, then in Montreal the next day, March 13, at MTelus. The tour is scheduled to conclude in Miramar Beach, Florida on April 27, 2024.

“I like numbers, so: 20 theaters and 24 performances to bless the pivotal year 2024,” Jon Batiste told the Associated Press in an exclusive statement.

“For my first solo tour, I wanted to play smaller venues and curate experiences that allow me to really feel the people while I play. Think of these 24 shows less as a tour and more as a series of 24 can’t-miss experiences, each one of a kind. »

The goal, he says, is to experience his performances in “intimate, invigorating presentations created to unite, uplift and inspire us all in this time of change and uncertainty.”

Presales begin on November 14 and tickets for the general public go on sale on November 17.

For those who can’t wait until next year, the multi-instrumentalist is the subject of a new documentary, American Symphony, which follows his journey to compose a symphony while his wife, writer Suleika Jaouad, undergoes treatment for cancer. The film will be released in theaters on November 24 and on Netflix on November 29.
