A Nice company is trying to reduce CO2 emissions linked to city delivery. The packages are grouped according to their destination neighborhood then transported by electric truck to small warehouses in the city center. They are then delivered by cargo bikes.
HAS Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), a logistics transport company has implemented a new solution for the delivery of goods. At the entrance, heavy goods vehicles deliver their packages like everywhere. But inside, the logistics have been redesigned while deliveries are shared. “We had the idea of grouping all the packages in a single vehicle to deliver the recipient customer as well as the destination neighborhood”reveals Franck Cannata, manager of the transport group.
An organization that allows fewer trucks to roll
For deliveries, four trucks can replace 100 vans and reduce the number of kilometers traveled. These trucks are electric and replace diesel vehicles. These new vehicles drop off their cargo in small warehouses in the city center. The goods are then transported in cargo bikes suitable for deliveries. 40 cargo bikes ensure deliveries to Nice.
