In Jandairis, a Syrian city located 150 km from the epicenter of the violent earthquake which killed several thousand people, a baby was found alive under the rubble of a building.

She has no first name, but already a nickname: “the little miracle of Jandairis”. In this Syrian city located 150 km from the epicenter of the violent earthquake which caused several thousand deaths in Turkey and Syria, a baby was born on Monday 6 February. The little girl was found by her uncle under the rubble of a four-storey building, tells France 2 in a report. “We found the bodies of the parents next to each other. We heard a noise while we were digging. (…) And we found the baby, still attached to its mother by its umbilical cord”says his parent. She was then swaddled, the outside temperature then being 0°C, then taken to the hospital. “His condition is stable”rejoices a doctor interviewed in the report.

The rescuers continue the search, to try to bring help to the survivors of the earthquake whose balance sheet, in constant worsening, now exceeds 7,300 dead. Twenty-three million people are “potentially exposed, including about five million vulnerable people”, warned the World Health Organization (WHO).
