We know the refrain: during his lifetime, Prince was constantly composing and hundreds of musical jewels are still waiting to be unearthed from his archives. Regularly, since his premature death at the age of 57 in April 2016, his heirs thus reveal small (or large) treasures drawn from this cave of Ali Baba, just enough not to tire. On Friday July 7, two songs were released via NPG Records in association with Paisley Park.

“All together” in the same boat

From this double delivery, we especially retain the truly unpublished, All A Share Together Now, recorded in September 2006, a few months after the album 3121. With its elastic and groovyjazzy bass line, this solar title is to be listened to urgently in the heat of summer. In the lyrics, Prince refers to the Bible: “The scriptures teach us that no matter the weather, the debt of those who came before us must be paid, all together now.”he sings with his fluid phrasing.

A 1976 demo just sold for over 60,000 euros

The other song is a new version of 7, there E-flat version (listen here) of this track originally released on the album Love symbol in 1992.

These two songs were unveiled in preview in mid-June, during a four-day celebration in Paisley Park, in the presence of Chaka Khan, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Doug E. Fresh and D-Nice. Each participant left with a USB key in the form of an audio cassette containing the two songs.

On June 22, a demo by Prince, recorded in 1976 with a view to signing his first contract with a record label, was auctioned off at RR Auction for 67,259 dollars (61,320 euros). On this audio tape, Prince, then 18, sings and plays all the instruments. There are in particular two titles which appeared on his first album For You in 1978, Just As Long As We’re Together And My Love is Forever, as well as the unprecedented Jelly Jam.
