Is this the announced end of bronchiolitis epidemics? 26,000 children under the age of two were hospitalized last year. Since Friday, September 15, preventive treatment can be prescribed in France.
Margot was born three days ago at the Rouen University Hospital (Seine-Maritime). A beautiful baby weighing 3.2 kg, and one of the first in France to receive the new treatment for bronchiolitis. His parents accepted this injection, which is now recommended and reimbursed. This nurse knows the treatment well; she participated in a clinical study showing its effectiveness. Protection lasts five to six months after the injection, which is not a vaccine.
26,000 hospitalizations last winter
Objective, therefore, to relieve the babies, but also the hospital. Last winter, the particularly severe bronchiolitis epidemic led to more than 73,000 visits to the emergency room, followed by 26,000 hospitalizations. Immunization is recommended for all children born after February 6. Parents can order the treatment in pharmacies with a prescription.
