a new tour to celebrate independent artists and female musical creation

For more than 25 years, this festival has offered a showcase to singers and musicians from all backgrounds, with a tour across the country. From Paris to Marseille, via Toulouse, Bordeaux or La Rochelle, dozens of independent projects are being discovered in front of the public, with music at the forefront.

Silly Boy Blue in Clermont-Ferrand and Toulouse, Ada Oda in Nantes, Paris and Rennes, or even Blumi, in concert next Thursday at the Café de la Danse in Paris: the Les Femmes s’en mingent festival, which started on November 23, continues. “I always want to explore new things, explains Blumi, real name Emma Broughtonthat’s also why it takes me so much, but otherwise I get a little bored (…) I think that’s why I make music“.

The Women Get Involved tour is a fascinating dive into a living creation, in this case female, in a time when Angèle, Juliette Armanet and other Clara Luciani showed the popular strength of their respective projects. Over the years, Stéphane Amiel, the founder of the festival, always hopes that “this snowball effect will benefit younger artists“.

“That’s always been the spirit of women involved: independence. We’re going to focus more on those who are more independent, at the start of their project.”

And one of the most exciting bands this year is En attendant Ana, who present their highly acclaimed third album, Principia, expected Thursday in Metz and Friday in Nantes. Margaux Bouchaudon is the singer and composer, and she sees this tour as “a kind of little revenge” while their previous album was crushed by the pandemic.

“There are slogans, demands and at the same time we do it in music, on stage, because the best visibility is there.”

In the big tour, there is also Jeanne Balibar, Emilie Simon who act as godmothers this year. Emulation between artists, an important factor for Stéphane Amiel: “The idea is that the artists meet on several dates; spending time on tour, on stage and backstage, mostly with women“. And that’s good, the stage is what Les Femmes s’en mingl has to present best, and has been doing so for 26 years.
