Infinity repeatingan unreleased track from 2013 by Daft Punk, will be unveiled in world premiere at the Center Pompidou on Thursday May 11 at 6.30 p.m., as part of the 10th anniversary of the album random access memoriesannounced Tuesday, May 9 the Parisian museum.
This cultural site dedicated to modern and contemporary art counts in the history of the helmeted duo, separated since 2021. It was in Beaubourg, another name of the place, that they discovered electro during a rave evening in 1992 , a year before their formation. In Infinity repeating, we can hear the singer Julian Casablancas and The Voidz (parallel project to his other group, The Strokes), according to the press release from the Center Pompidou. It’s a “demo”, first draft of a piece originally composed for random access memoriesmegatube album get lucky (with vocals by Pharrell Williams and guitar by Nile Rodgers). Infinity repeating is one of the nine tracks laid on tape in 2013 and never released – studio scraps, demos, preparatory work – filling the expanded reissue for the 10th anniversary of random access memories which will be published on Friday 12 May.
Three experiences to discover the title
Thursday, at 6.30 p.m., for the revelation of Infinity repeatingthe Center Pompidou will offer “three title discovery experiences“, “free and open access within the limit of available places“. Be one “listening in ultra-high fidelity, in collaboration with Ircam (Institute for research and acoustic/music coordination)“. Later, a “commented listening to the entire album on the ultra high-fidelity system” will be offered to the public on July 9, 2023 in Gallery 3. Two other unpublished have already been released. The writing of Fragments of time is a sound making-of of the track Fragments of time. And GLBTM is a kind of jam session that prefigures the title Give life back to music.
