In this new theatre, make way for stand-ups, one-man shows, boulevard comedies and even children’s shows. The room opened its doors on March 31, 2022, in the Longs Champs shopping area in Rennes. “We noticed that there were very few rooms here that offer this kind of slot”explains Trong Voba, the general manager of the Comédie de Rennes. “Many people in the neighborhood are very happy, because now they have a cultural place”. Indeed, no need to drive to the city center and there is the possibility of parking on site.
Soon Breton troops?
“People feel at home”, adds the manager. For the moment, no local troops play here, but the objective is to attract them: “We have a lot of people who tour a lot in France, and _we also try to find Breton teams_Rennes, to be able to come and play if they wish”.
The Comédie de Rennes offers 140 seats. An intimate place that Azeline particularly appreciated. The actress, based in Clermont-Ferrand, has just played on this stage for a week: “Instead of having a large room where we can find the side a little too elitist, there we have all the audiences, young people, teenagers, couples, who do not know. That’s what is more welcoming, more intimate, we have a lot of people who are discovering.”
