After the movies, the series. Amazon has officially ordered a sequel to blade runner 2049 not in feature film form, but in episodes, reports the magazine variety.

Title Blade Runner 2099the live-action series will take place, as its name suggests, 50 years after the film blade runner 2049directed by Denis Villeneuve and released in 2017.
Last February, variety announced that the project was in development. According to the magazine, it is now officially taking shape. Silka Luisa will be the main director.
Some talents who have already worked on the Blade Runner franchise are also participating in the project, starting with Ridley Scott, director of the original film released in 1982.
Plot details have not been released at this time, says variety. “Blade Runner 2099 will live up to the intellect, themes and spirit of the movies that came before it,” said Vernon Sanders of Amazon Studios, however.
In addition to the two films, the franchise already includes an animated series, Blade Runner: Black Lotus.
