United States: a new rocket will take off, heading to the Moon

United States: a new rocket will take off, heading for the Moon – (France info)

A new rocket is due to take off on Monday January 8, with, on board, the first American device to attempt to land on the Moon, a first in more than 50 years. An ambitious theft carried out by a private company.

The Vulcan Centaur rocket arrives at its launch pad in Florida. On board, a moon lander developed by a startup. If everything goes as planned, this probe should land on the Moon on February 23. This is the first time that a private American company has sent a probe to the Moon, the start of a series of missions between NASA and the private sector. In a few weeks, it will be a SpaceX rocket carrying a probe from another company.

Several countries are embarking on the race for the Moon

The United States thus wishes to set out again to conquer the Moon. Their last lunar mission dates back more than fifty years, in 1972. They are not the only ones to want to reconquer the satellite since Russia tried to send a probe last summer before it crashed on the Moon. After landing its first lander ten years ago, China must launch a new rocket next May. The conquest of the Moon is well and truly relaunched before another much more distant one, that of Mars.
