The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) unveiled on Monday the new plan for public transport in Greater Montreal, which will now include commuter train, REM and SRB-Pie IX stations.
This new plan will gradually replace the one already displayed in métro stations and can also be consulted in métro and REM stations, in bus terminals, in train stations and in park-and-ride lots.
A distinctive color and line are assigned to the different structuring transport lines.
“The implementation of this plan is an essential and necessary step for a metropolitan vision of long-term mobility. This plan helps to facilitate travel in all public transport services in the region, ”explains in a press release published on Monday.
“Today, our metropolis is more mobile, green and accessible than ever thanks to the development of structuring means of public transport! “, rejoiced the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, on Twitter, in reaction to the unveiling of the new map.
The launch of this new map takes place as part of a major project to harmonize metropolitan signage launched in 2018 by the ARTM.
Every day of the week, 1.5 million trips are made on public transport in the metropolitan area according to figures from the organization.
