According to what the CrossingBroad.com website and then the Sportsnet network reported on Saturday, the former hockey player could be named special assistant to general manager Chuck Fletcher. The 44-year-old would sign a two-year contract.

Brière is the president and general manager of the Flyers’ school club in the ECHL, the Maine Mariners. This season, he also got involved as an amateur scout and assistant coach with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms due to COVID-19.

In the National Hockey League, Brière amassed 696 points in 973 games over 17 seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens and Flyers. He spent six seasons with them, including helping the team reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010.
