A new general director at the Orchester Philharmonique du Québec

After working for the last seven years for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Véronique Bugeaud becomes the new general director of the Orchester Philharmonique du Québec.

She thus takes over from Jean-Marc Léveillé, who left the organization about three weeks ago, due to “administrative disagreements”. He had worked there for around fifteen years.

Wednesday, Mme Bugeaud said she looked forward to collaborating with the musicians and the conductor and artistic director of the Orchestra, Alexandre Da Costa. “Contributing to making classical music accessible to all audiences is the driving force behind my professional actions in recent years, and I am honored to continue this important mission alongside this beautiful orchestra,” she underlined.

Before the beginning of last July, the Quebec Philharmonic Orchestra was called the Longueuil Symphony Orchestra. This change of name is not “aesthetic”, explained Jean-Marc Léveillé at the time. “Some would have liked us to remain a regional orchestra, but our pretension is that an orchestra is a set of musicians who can play everywhere, including across the world. Keeping a regional status would have been reductive. »
