In Gironde, a new fire mobilizes firefighters, Tuesday, September 6. In 24 hours, the fire destroyed 70 hectares. The fire is fixed, but not under control so 160 firefighters are active on the ground, helped by aerial means.

Summer has not yet said its last word. Due to the drought, the Gironde continues to burn. Tuesday, September 6 afternoon, renewed fires complicated the work of the 12 firefighters present in Vendays-Montalivet (Gironde). They were supported by two helicopters and two canadairs. The fire broke out on Monday, around 4:30 p.m., caused by work in a barn near an old campsite.

Aided by reinforcements from neighboring departments, firefighters declared the fire fixed at 12:30 a.m. But the climatic conditions of Tuesday afternoon did not make it possible to control it completely. Farmers wanted to water their land to protect them from the approaching flames. 70 hectares were burned. No evacuation is planned. The rain and lower temperatures should allow its extinction in the coming days.
