The day after a relatively quiet stage between Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Saint-Vulbas, marked by the historic victory of British veteran Mark Cavendish, the Tour de France peloton will set off on a new, particularly flat route between Mâcon and Dijon on Thursday, July 4. Over the 163.5 kilometers between Saône-et-Loire and Côte d’Or, the riders will start by climbing the Col du Bois Clair (1.6 km at 6%), before following a rolling route to the finish.
A stage profile that should suit the sprinters, and which will count in the race for the green jersey. Among the contenders for victory, we will find, among others, the Belgian Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceunink), winner of four stages last year, or Biniam Girmay (Intermarché – Wanty-Gobert), sublime surprise winner on Monday in Turin. For the favorites for the final victory, no major changes are expected.
