In two weeks, the life of Laurent Ruquier has changed a lot. Cyril Hanouna, on vacation for the Christmas period, was therefore unable to debrief these sudden changes. The host of TPMP returned to the air this Monday January 8, 2024 and was determined to discuss the departure of Hugo Manos’ companion from BFMTV. As well as his arrival at TF1

. A new role that doesn’t really excite “Baba”.
As a reminder, Laurent Ruquier announced on December 26, 2023 that he was putting an end to his adventure with the channel managed by Marc-Olivier Fogiel. Lacking an audience, the journalist is aware that his 8 p.m. was a failure and did not prefer to continue the adventure. “I prefer to stop there […]it is clear that the public did not follow me as much as we hoped in this different role for me”he notably wrote in a long message published on Instagram.
Ten days later, our colleagues from Parisian announced the arrival of Laurent Ruquier on the front page to possibly take the place of Jeff Panacloc, Kev Adams, Michèle Bernier, or even Élodie Frégé. If we do not yet know which investigator will give way to the now ex-journalist of BFMTVCyril Hanouna already does not seem enthusiastic about the idea. “Laurent Ruquier, whom I really like, is joining Mask Singer. Hugo, did he consult you before saying he was going to do Mask Singer?”asked the host of the daily C8 to his columnist before he responded in the affirmative.

Cyril Hanouna, very disappointed to see Laurent Ruquier in “Mask Singer”
“Did you say yes to him? When you have friends like that…” the host then exasperated before adding: “What the hell is going to happen there? He’s going to get pissed off!”. In fact, Hugo Manos wanted to defend his companion. “He wants it. It amuses him. He explained to me why he was doing what he did. I’m not going to bully him and slow him down in something that amuses him. He’s 60 years old, he’s already did what he had to do. There is nothing that will taint what he has done so far.”, he defended. But that was not enough to convince Cyril Hanouna.
“For me, there are only nerdy people. Only nerdy people who do that”said the host before continuing: “I support my friend. I love Laurent but why am I saying that? Because for me he deserves much better. For me Laurent I put him at the top. So when I saw that… When you love people that get angry… It would have been an average guy I would have said “look at this nerdy guy who’s going to do Mask Singer”. But there, when I saw Laurent who was becoming an investigator…” A bad idea for the host of TPMP.
