The former Michelin site of Joué-les Tours will welcome a new business district worth 60 million euros. This is the announcement made yesterday during a press conference at the town hall of Joué-les-Tours, by the mayor of the town Frédéric Augis and the former head of the Michelin site. The group sold the land to two promoters: SET and Exia, whose objective is to build a space in the same spirit as the district of the two lions.
15 years of work for this new business center
This 17-hectare plot, which had been unoccupied for 7 years, has finally found its usefulness for the years to come since it will be transformed into an innovative business district that will be able to eventually accommodate a pool of 5,000 jobs and 180,000m2 of offices. The work will take place over a period of 15 years.
A pedestrian footbridge to reach the Bretonnières lake
To make this space as attractive as possible, several arrangements will be made. A central green space, a restaurant area, hotels, shops, sports halls as well as” a pedestrian bridge that will cross the ring road to reach the Lac des Bretonnières. “We really want to create a real place of life for future employees working in this area. It must also be an attractive place for the inhabitants of Joué-les-Tours, that they want to walk there on weekends. -end and during the week. The idea of the pedestrian bridge is an illustration of this ease of accessibility“, says architect Clément Blanchet.
A historic moment for Joué-les-Tours
The two promoters Exia and the Set who bought the land from Michelin for 10 million euros, promise an innovative and accessible area for businesses, which is what attracted the mayor of Joué-les-Tours Frédéric Augis. “The tertiary sector with offices, places to live, restaurants, places where you can work but also relax and well that does not exist in Joué-les Tours. This is the object that we lacked in economic terms. It is a historic moment for the municipality, we have fifteen years, with the most beautiful of purposes, to create 5,000 jobs in the territory “.
A second meeting between promoters and the town hall should be set for June 2022 to better refine the project. The start of work is scheduled for January 2023.
