His melodies are hummed all over the world and his texts have marked the history of Jamaica. Bob Marley is reborn, 43 years after his death, in a musical biopic, Bob Marley: One Love, directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. At the Paris premiere, fans came out wanting to sing. Others are rather touched by the fate of the icon.
“I almost cried”
“The tributes, the landscape, frankly I almost cried”, confides a spectator. An assassination attempt in 1976, his exile in the United Kingdom: the film is political. It’s the British actor who plays the singer who says it. “He understood the music, he saw the suffering of the people around him, of black people all over the world. He saw it, he absorbed it and transmitted it in his music”, says Kingsley Ben-Adir. The film is released on February 14, the perfect day to sing about love.
