A new Banksy appears in London

(London) Street artist Banksy unveiled a new mural Monday depicting a rhinoceros appearing to climb onto the roof of a car in London — the eighth animal-themed artwork in a series he has completed in the past week that includes elephants, a goat, a wolf, pelicans and more.

The elusive graffiti artist, who has never confirmed his full identity, has been posting a new piece to his Instagram account every day since last Monday. His latest piece in Charlton, south-east London, features a rhino on a wall and makes it appear as if the animal is climbing onto a broken-down car parked outside the building.

On Sunday, the artist claimed responsibility for another work depicting piranhas that appeared on a police box near London’s High Criminal Court, known as the Old Bailey.

A small crowd of people gathered in front of the aquarium-themed artwork on Monday, taking photos and selfies as workers placed barriers around it. A spokesman for the City of London Corporation said it was exploring options to preserve it.

Among the works unveiled last week are pelicans that appeared on the side of a fishmonger’s in Walthamstow, east London, and a wolf silhouette that was painted on a satellite dish on the roof of a garage in south London.

Pelicans have appeared on the side of a fishmonger’s in Walthamstow.

The wolf artwork was removed by men who took it away the same day it was revealed. It is not yet known who removed the satellite dish.

Banksy began his career spray painting buildings in Bristol, England, and has become one of the world’s most famous artists. His works have sold for millions of dollars at auction, and his outdoor murals have often been stolen or removed by building owners shortly after they were completed.
