A large dismantled network. Four people were arrested in Rhône-Alpes and Ile-de-France, between February 8 and 10, for their alleged involvement in the trafficking of false health passes, reports a press release from the gendarmerie and the Ministry of the Interior.
Investigators from the Central Office for Combating Damage to the Environment and Public Health (OCLAESP) discovered “a channel for the flow of fake passes ranging from resellers via social networks to individuals misappropriating the personal data of health professionals”writes the press release, which amounts to “over 3,000” the number of false passes elapsed “mainly in the Rhône-Alpes region”.
telephones and “digital media containing data and elements making it possible to materialize the generation of false passes”but also luxury watches or 4x4s acquired “by the members of this network (…) thanks to the illicit profits of their trafficking” were seized during searches.
One of the four defendants was sentenced to nine months of house arrest with an electronic bracelet, after being tried in immediate appearance on February 11 by the judicial court of Valence (Drôme). Two others were released following their police custody awaiting slegal proceedings. The last one is summoned soon before the justice.
