Canada: a mysterious wreck resurfaces on the coast
Canada: a mysterious wreck resurfaces on the coast – (France 2)
The wreck of a boat has emerged on the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Remarkably well preserved, the ship dates from the 19th century.
In Cape Ray, on the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador (Canada), the silhouette of a wreck emerged. The ghost ship was pushed towards the coast by currents and its wooden frame appears remarkably well preserved. Canadian experts inspected the wreck and collected samples of chain and metal, with the hope of identifying the ship. “It’s real detective work, to trace the origin of the wood and understand when the ship was built”says Neil Burgess of the Newfoundland and Labrador Shipwreck Conservation Society.
Put a name and a story on the ship
According to experts, the ship dates from the 19th century. Given its scale, it was not built in Canada, but more likely in France or the United Kingdom. The wreck cannot be hauled onto the beach. The samples should reveal their secrets, with the hope of putting a name and a story on this ship from the past.
