A mural celebrating the seven principles of children’s rights was unveiled Wednesday evening in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district of Montreal.
Very colorful, the work of artist Zoë Gelfant embellishes Dr Julien lane, at the crossroads of Aylwin and Adam streets, an area recognized as the cradle of social pediatrics in the community.
The Fondation Dr Julien inaugurated the work of MU, in collaboration with the City of Montreal and the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Over the past 15 years, MU, as a charitable organization, has produced more than 200 large-scale murals like this one in 18 boroughs of the metropolis.
Under the theme of the rainbow, this new work of urban art is a celebration of the diversity and solidarity of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, recalling the importance of respecting the rights of the child, specified the Dr Julien Foundation, which helps, year after year, more than 10,000 children from underprivileged backgrounds through 45 community social pediatrics centres.
