Bad weather that occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday caused major damage in a town in Isère. A road was devastated by landslides, and the force of a river burst its banks. Residents of the area were evacuated.
In Vallouise-Pelvoux, in Isère, the flow remains strong on Friday September 27, but the torrent has returned to its bed. The river overflowed during the night from Thursday to Friday in the town, swollen by torrential rains. The mayor of the town, Gaëlle Moreau, had banned access to the path in the afternoon, where the dike gave way under the onslaught. “It hit and it came straight out, with a lot of sediment inside.”says the councilor.
Entire sections of a municipal road, fortunately little used, were washed away. It is still impossible to know the extent of the damage, but a photo taken by helicopter shows that 200 meters of asphalt have disappeared. This is the third time in a year that the town has been hit hard. Its 1,200 inhabitants cannot get used to it.
