Supported by an investment of 2.5 billion pounds (4.25 billion CAN), this plan called “Five-in-Five” aims to hatch one electric model per year from 2025 to 2030. The entire creative process and production will be carried out at the manufacturer’s assembly plant in Crewe, in the north-west of England. Bentley estimates that the production activities there are already carbon neutral thanks, among other things, to the use of around 30,000 solar panels for the supply of electricity. The brand will now require this carbon neutrality of its dealers by 2025.

In the meantime, customers can currently fall back on plug-in hybrid versions of the Flying Spur sedan and Bentayga SUV. However, their autonomy is greatly limited. The Bentayga can theoretically travel 29 km in electric mode, according to the American measurement protocol, and we are still awaiting the measurement of the plug-in Flying Spur, which should be slightly higher.

So gradually exit the V8 and twelve-cylinder that made the reputation of this brand. It is now silence that will reign, in direct line with the famous phrase of the founder W. O. Bentley to qualify the “8 Liter” in 1930: ” A dead silent 100 mph car. »
