But even though the footage was taken down, the charges stood. And rather than go to trial, they pleaded guilty on Monday. However, they got off with an absolution, because the victim did not wish to testify in court.

“She wanted the defendants to recognize the facts, it was important to her, we spoke to her and she is satisfied,” explained Ms.e Charles Doucet of the Crown, adding that he had thus wanted to respect the woman’s will.

Buttenham, who now teaches karate to children, as well as Bilodeau, who is studying to become a nutritionist, will therefore not have a criminal record, provided they meet a two-year probation during which they cannot approach of the victim or refer to her on social networks.
