This is what he demanded through a letter forwarded to organizations in the league and having been obtained by the ESPN network. Spectators and others in the stadiums will be asked to remain silent immediately prior to the performance of the United States national anthem. Most games take place on Sunday, with the one exception being the Cleveland Browns-Steelers clash in Pittsburgh scheduled for Monday.

A leading NFL figure, Madden died at the age of 85 on Tuesday. The former head coach led the Oakland Raiders for 10 years, relishing victory at a Super Bowl. He is also the face of the famous “Madden NFL” video games, in addition to having acted for a long time as an analyst on American television.
