A Molotov cocktail thrown at a residence in Saint-Rémi

The Sûreté du Québec is investigating a fire that seems to be criminal caused by a Molotov cocktail in a residence in Saint-Rémi, in Montérégie, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.

The police were called around 1 a.m. about a fire in a residence located on rue Bourdeau, near rue Majeau.

On the spot, the firefighters quickly brought the fire under control before handing over the scene to the police officers of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) to carry out the investigation.

The occupants of the house, a man and a woman, were evacuated and no one was injured, according to a spokesman for the SQ.

The damage to the home is unknown and no suspects have been arrested in the case at this time.

An investigator and a fire scene technician had to move on site to try to determine the circumstances surrounding this probably arson fire.
