A mobilization of bicycles slows traffic

A demonstration by cyclists aimed at making motorists aware of the importance of riding carefully is underway in the Plateau Mont-Royal and is slowing down traffic in places.

The rendezvous was given by the organization Vélophantom Québec at the intersection of avenues du Parc and avenue de Mont-Royal at 11 a.m. The mobilization, which takes the form of a “human cycle path”, brought together around fifty people.

Vélophantom Quebec is at the origin of the movement of white bicycles installed where cyclists perished after being hit by vehicles.

The organization installed its first white bike on Avenue du Parc in 2013 following the death of Suzanne Châtelain. Since then, several deaths are to be deplored and many white bikes are seen in Montreal.
