This is a new practice in medicine, rather comfortable for patients: home radiography. In Alsace, in the Haguenau sector, a team of health professionals travels to perform x-rays and thus treat minor injuries. A device that could help unclog emergencies.

If you can’t come to get an x-ray, the x-ray will come to you. In Haguenau, in Alsace, a doctor and a nurse travel within a radius of 20 kilometers equipped with all the necessary equipment.

Thanks to this mobile medical unit, they can treat falls, twists, shocks and minor wounds, like this 86-year-old patient who has fallen many times and suffers from foot pain. For him, nothing serious, it’s a simple sprain and the economy of a trip to the emergency room. Radiography thus makes it possible to remove doubts.

Since it is a benign pathology, the fact that there is a triage in the emergency room compared to serious pathologies, it will necessarily pass afterwards.

The time spent in the emergency room is thus considerably reduced and the latter are less overloaded with patients who do not belong there. This single mobile unit does not, for the moment, significantly relieve the emergency room, but it does help. A more convenient care system for patients who don’t want to, or can’t, travel. However, this service costs three times more than the traditional radiography in the hospital, an additional cost which is explained by the cumbersome installation of this type of itinerant equipment.

It’s not easy to be in pairs, to carry around a lot of weight, to go to people’s homes because we are stepping out of our comfort zone. At the hospital, everything was at hand.
