A minor suspected of planning a “violent action” in Angers has been arrested, announces Gérald Darmanin

A minor “suspected of preparing a plan for violent action during the July 14 festivities in Angers” (Maine-et-Loire) was arrested by the police, announced Gérald Darmanin on X, Saturday July 13. The Minister of the Interior took the opportunity to salute the police forces who, “once again, they demonstrate their effectiveness in serving the security of the French”he added, without giving details on the project’s target or modus operandi.

In total, some 130,000 police officers and gendarmes will be mobilized Saturday and Sunday across the whole of France to ensure the smooth running of the July 14 festivities, two weeks before the opening of the Olympic Games, Gérald Darmanin declared on Friday. In Paris, 11,000 members of the police force will be deployed, he said.
