For the next few days, Environment Canada is forecasting a mild spell in Quebec, which should peak mid-week. However, these high temperatures will be chased away on Thursday by a return of cold weather to the province.
Tuesday and Wednesday, the temperature should reach around ten degrees in southern Quebec, specifies Julie Deshaies, meteorologist at the federal agency. “And the closer we go to the American border, therefore to the South Shore [dans la région de] Montreal, the closer we could get to 15 degrees. »
These “mild, not to say warm” temperatures will, however, give way to a vigorous cold front, which will sweep across the province during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, adds M.me Deshaies. “We will go from maximums of around ten degrees to around -10°C at the end of the night. So we are talking about a loss of 20 degrees in 12 hours. »
This mild spell followed by low temperatures is like the last few weeks, observes the meteorologist. “Sometimes we have very spring-like days, then the next day it’s back to winter. After that, we come back to spring. » She believes, however, that these temperature oscillations in February are nothing unusual.
The return to seasonal norms, which are -2°C during the day and -11°C at night, should arrive on Friday.
“For next Saturday and Sunday, it’s starting to be a little far away, but we should get back above normal,” notes Julie Deshaies.
