Environment Canada is forecasting a mild spell in Quebec in the coming days which should peak mid-week. However, these high temperatures will be chased away on Thursday by a return of cold weather to the province.
The mercury should reach around ten degrees Tuesday and Wednesday in southern Quebec, specifies Julie Deshaies, meteorologist at the federal agency. “And the closer we go to the American border, therefore the South Shore of Montreal, the closer we could get to 15 degrees. »
These “mild, not to say hot” temperatures will, however, give way to a vigorous cold front which will sweep across the province during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, details Mme Deshaies. “We will go from maximums of around ten degrees to around -10 oC at the end of the night. So we are talking about a loss of 20 degrees in 12 hours. »
This mild spell followed by low temperatures is like the last few weeks, observes the meteorologist. “Sometimes we have very spring-like days, then the next day “poof”, we return to winter. After that, we come back to spring. » She believes, however, that these temperature oscillations in February are nothing unusual.
The return to seasonal norms, which are -2 degrees during the day and -11 degrees at night, should arrive on Friday.
