In the North, a fire in an SNCF wagon left one dead and several injured. Marion David, live from Valenciennes for 12/13, Saturday March 26, discusses the circumstances of this tragedy.

The man who died following the fire of an SNCF wagon in Valenciennes (North) is a migrant of Eritrean origin. “At 7 a.m., the prosecution claimed it was an accident. On the roof of this train, four people, of Eritrean nationality. It was one of them who died, thrown to the ground by an electric arc. His three comrades, an SNCF agent and two firefighters were slightly injured.”, reports Marion David. We don’t know yet “really the circumstances of this accident”adds the journalist.

“The SNCF specifies that the train came from Calais and was heading for the Spanish border. This is the first time that an accident involving an exiled person has taken place here in Valenciennes, but in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais it happens regularly”recalls Marion David. “The last dates from mid-January, a young man fell from a truck near Calais. Contacted, migrant aid associations want to remind how much this border kills”reports the journalist.
