It’s the big cultural event of the weekend on France 2. This Saturday, February 4, 2023, in the box for the second part of the evening, the new edition of What an era! received as usual many personalities from the world of entertainment, the media, politics… Around Léa Salamé, Christophe Dechavanne and Philippe Caverivière, the journalists of Olivier Truchot and Alain Marschall, known for their program The Big Mouths on RMC, were invited but also the writer Philippe Besson, the surfing champion Justine Dupont as well as the comedian Waly Dia. On the political side, it was not one guest but two who came to defend their ideas and exchange their points of view. Marlène Schiappa, on the one hand, the Secretary of State in charge of the Social and Solidarity Economy and Associative Life, and Marion Maréchal, on the other hand, the executive vice-president of the Reconquest party of Eric Zemmour.
It was during the intervention of the latter that the comedian Waly Dia could not help but want to take it back and cut it… which ended up triggering this sentence from the granddaughter of Jean-Marie Le pen: “But sir, are you into politics or humor?” And a series of comments on Twitter, with very divided opinions, like “Political humor has always existed. As on all other subjects, Marion Maréchal is off the mark.“, or on the contrary “The unfunny comedian was really bad spirited. He should work out his frustration before going on set. It would make trade more flexible.”

“Stop caricaturing, it’s tiring, since you accuse me of being racist…”
The origin of this little phrase? A question from Marlène Schiappa put directly to Marion Maréchal: “If your daughter told you that she is in love with an undocumented illegal immigrant who works in the restaurant business and that he has just obtained a residence permit….” The comedian Wali Dia cuts it: “Don’t say that, we’re going to lose her!”, The Minister continues: “Would you support your daughter’s love?”. The former supporter of Marine Le Pen and the National Rally replies: “I love my daughters to death, so obviously regardless of their personal choices I will continue to love my daughters, but you know… for me, there are two levels in politics. There is the individual level, there is an individual charity that we must all impose on ourselves… tomorrow you will even find an illegal migrant convulsing on the sidewalk, obviously you help him…” At these words, the comedian bounces: “Even a migrant!?”, The politician explains: “Whether it’s a Frenchman or a migrant, that’s whatI mean…” Wali Dia cuts it off immediately: “Even a migrant!?”, Visibly exasperated at not being able to explain herself, Marion Maréchal continues: “It’s because we were talking about the underground side… Stop caricaturing, it’s tiring, since you accuse me of being racist, of being on the far right and company…”, Wali Dia tries to answer him: “You are with someone who is condemned for…” which exasperates the rookie of Eric Zemmour who launches: “But sir, are you into politics or humor?” to close this fruitless exchange.
Also to be seen: “We don’t care Madame”, “We have to stop rehashing the same fads over and over again”: lively clash between Christiane Taubira and Christophe Dechavanne!
