A merchant comes out of retirement in Laval to reopen his shop

The tableware and decoration shop Manuella located rue des Déportés in Laval reopened this Saturday, October 1 after several months of closure. Dominique Mortier retired at the end of January 2022 after 25 years of presence in Laval. But not everything went as planned.

“We had a buyer who showed up in September 2021, says the merchant, the signing was scheduled for January 30 and two days before, this buyer withdrew. Then we had a second buyer. It is a chain this time which presented itself in April. And it was relatively long because with the chains, the steps are still quite long. There was a loan agreement. And the loan deal, unfortunately, was not granted on August 8.”

Retirement goal in 2023

Dominique Mortier therefore decides to reopen his store. He could no longer see it empty, to pay rent for nothing. “Seeing a large window like that, with white papers, was no longer acceptable. So I prefer to find myself in the store and redo sales rather than seeing an empty store.”

The goal now for Dominique Mortier is to sell his Manuella store by the end of 2023 and thus retiring. “It’s still something that looks pretty good. I think I’m there [serai] ready when it happens!”
