A shooting worthy of the Wild West where the victim, a member of a street gang from Rivière-des-Prairies, publishes the scene on Snapchat and notifies the police of the event herself. By contacting 911, Andrew Luberisse self-reported during this attack which almost cost him his life, allowing his arrest a few months later. He was also sentenced to three years in prison on Monday.
May 2021. Around 11:40 p.m., shots ring out on the 61e Avenue in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, in Montreal.
The scene looks like it came straight out of a movie. The driver’s side window of a black Dodge Durango vehicle is shattered by multiple bullet holes. Its occupant, Andrew Luberisse, miraculously survived without a scratch. That evening, more than a dozen bullets were fired in his direction. Nothing surprising: the criminal nicknamed Ali Baba is a member of the street gang Profit Boyz involved in many conflicts.
His first instinct? Filming himself and his car to publish everything on his Snapchat and Instagram accounts.
His second instinct? Dial 911 to notify the police.
Andrew Luberisse himself called the police on the evening of May 29, 2021, can we read in a court document summarizing the facts. He then indicated that he wanted to meet the police in connection with the shots fired at his vehicle. The man, then 32 years old, never showed up at the police station.
The video filmed at the time of the facts is later found in one of his rap music videos. Before the start of the song titled Transgression (freestyle)a sequence shows the black car riddled with bullets.
Detective Sergeant Caroline Raza, of the SPVM
Shortly before the shooting involving Andrew Luberisse, his escapades on social networks are attracting attention. “He was very active on Instagram and Snapchat. Its publications are open to the public,” said Caroline Raza.
About ten days before being targeted, Ali Baba had published a video likely to have set fire to the powder. He had filmed himself sitting in a vehicle at the corner of Pascal and Lapierre streets, in Montreal North.
He had chanted “Fuck this block, I can’t stand this motherfucking block” brandishing a green scarf, the color of his sector.
The intersection is “a significant place” for its Zone 43 rivals, said Caroline Raza. “It is considered a lack of respect on the part of Mr. Luberisse to go there. »
Andrew Luberisse pleaded guilty to several firearms charges last spring following his arrest. He was sentenced to 37 months in prison on Monday. Taking into account the preventive detention, he therefore has a little more than a year to spend behind bars.
