Bangalore is dry. The city has exhausted its water resources. So much so that the population now uses tanker trucks on a daily basis.
It is nicknamed India’s Silicon Valley. In the south of the country, Bangalore is a rich and modern city. However, some of its 15 million inhabitants are seriously lacking water. “We only receive water once a week. We don’t have enough water for everyone”explains a resident. In recent months, the water supply has halved. A historic crisis. “Water is a necessity, we need it every day. This crisis makes me sad and it makes me angry”assures a woman. However, she is one of the luckiest. She has the means to bring in private tankers to fill this water tank located under the building.
“Before, water bills barely exceeded ten euros per month, now that you have to have it delivered, you pay almost 90 euros”she indicates. In northern Bangalore, residents can only rely on tankers to receive drinking water. A delivery person receives around fifteen calls per day.
