a meeting under high tension

Violence between supporters erupted in downtown Brest, ahead of the Brest-Lorient derby, this Sunday, October 9. Result: one injured. Violence assumed, half-word, by the president of Ultras Brestois who confided to the microphone of France Bleu Brezih-Izel “have done extra sports work“before the meeting.

Around the stadium, the situation was less tense thanks, in particular, to the security system: 190 gendarmes and police officers were mobilized for the event.

The Ultras Brestois and the Celtic Ultras, deprived of a match, still expressed their dissatisfaction. A banner “Direction betrayal. FLB in Brest.“(FLB for the Francis Le Blé stadium, editor’s note), was stuck on the facade of the Stade Brestois, rue de Quimper.

Firecrackers and smoke bombs

The message sent by the Ultras was therefore very clear. Deprived of matches, many of them gathered at the Penalty bar, opposite the stadium. Despite the closure of two stands, the Brest Ultras and the Celtic ultras still decided to give voice to their club. Voice but also firecrackers and smoke.

At the end of the match, the fans watched for the opening of the doors of the Francis Le Blé stadium to try to rush in. An attempt ended in failure. Which did not prevent them from chanting their dissatisfaction by singing “direction betrayal“.

Law enforcement eventually escorted the groups of ultras to their car. There is no incident to report.
