The mayor of Avolsheim in the Bas-Rhin has brought his sponsorship to Eric Zemmour after consulting his population, reports France Bleu Alsace on Tuesday February 22. Pascal Gehin explains that he has received 40 sponsorship requests in recent months. “Mayors are afraid that their citizens will think it’s political support if you sponsor someonehe says. But I wanted to be able to give my signature to someone. But I didn’t want it to be my choice.”

60 voters out of the 600 in the municipality expressed themselves during this consultation which lasted several weeks, from a list of names of candidates. Eric Zemmour garnered the most support, ahead of Emmanuel Macron and Yannick Jadot. So it’s up to the Reconquest candidate! that Pascal Gehin brings his sponsorship, although he says he is distant from his political convictions.

The mayor of Avelsheim had initially set a minimum turnout of 20% of voters, but ultimately chose to continue the process although this threshold was not reached. The form to sponsor Eric Zemmour was sent last week.
