The head of foreign rights at the French publishing house La Fabrique, named Ernest, was released on Tuesday evening April 18. He was arrested on Monday in London (United Kingdom) while on his way to the book fair in the city. This arrest was made as part of controls implemented by the British authorities at the borders of the United Kingdom, said the Metropolitan Police of London, quoted by the Guardian. His release was confirmed on Wednesday by the French Foreign Ministry, which declined to comment.
His publishing house, known for far-left publications as well as certain works by the writer Alain Damasio, strongly denounced this arrest. “Ernest was questioned for several hours and he was asked very troubling questions: his point of view on pension reform in France, on the French government, on Emmanuel Macron, his opinion on the Covid crisis…”reports the publishing house in a press release. “He was asked to name the “anti-government” authors of the catalog of editions”also relates the Factory.
But the editor is not “out of trouble” however, denounces his employer. “His telephone and his professional computer were seized and remained in the hands of the British police who will extract all the data with a view to analyzing and exploiting them. Worse still, our collaborator is summoned to London in four weeks. to be presented to the British counter-terrorism unit.”
