A man was shot and found in the Lachine borough.

The 33rd homicide to occur in Montreal was caused by a firearm in the borough of Lachine, in Montreal.

Emergency services received several calls on Sunday evening to report a person found lying on the ground in an apartment on Boulevard Saint-Joseph, near rue Sainte-Marie.

The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) confirmed overnight from Sunday to Monday that this is a 33rd homicide.

According to information from SPVM spokesperson Véronique Comtois, the victim, a 50-year-old man, was injured by a firearm.

Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out by the police, without success. The man was declared dead at the scene.

A security perimeter has been established to protect the scene. Major crimes investigators are on hand to determine the exact causes and circumstances surrounding this 33rd homicide.

The investigation is continuing.
