The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating a murder committed early Monday morning in a factory in Lac-Mégantic, in the Eastern Townships.
The crime was perpetrated around 5:30 a.m. on the premises of the Tafisa manufacturer, located on Villeneuve Street.
SQ police were called to the scene for an altercation between two individuals.
According to our information, one of them attacked his rival with a knife. The injuries sustained by the victim were so extensive that no transport to hospital was carried out. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The main suspect in this case will be met by the investigators of crimes against the person of the Sûreté du Québec.
The motive for the murder has not yet been established.
A security perimeter was erected to protect the crime scene. Forensic identification technicians and investigators went to the scene at the start of the day to analyze the scene of the murder and try to collect evidence.
Several witnesses were also to be interviewed during the day.
Tafisa is Lac-Mégantic’s largest employer. Its 71,000 square meter factory is in operation seven days a week.
